AGM and Board Nominations

The SPIE Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place 2018-Oct-25 in conjunction with the regular monthly Program meeting. At the AGM the members of the Board of Directors will be elected or acclaimed. The positions and responsibilities are set out on the SPIE website:

www.SPIE.ca > About > Operating Procedures.

SPIE members are eligible to nominate or be nominated to the board, and vote in the election of board members.

The Board is soliciting nominations for the Board. There are four officer positions, Chairperson, Co-chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary, and six Members at Large. In addition there is an unelected position of Past Chairperson. The Board has many standing and ad hoc committees that handle the business of the Society, and responsibilities are sometimes assigned on an as-needed basis.

The Board meets 10 times per year, monthly from September to June, downtown at the end of the work day. The term of membership is two years.

Please consider nominating Board members, including yourself. Nominations can be effected verbally or by email directed to any current member of the Board. The nomination should have the agreement of the nominee, and specify the position of interest, or perhaps more than one position for flexibility. Nominations must be received by 2018-Oct-18. Any member of SPIE is eligible for Board membership and eligible to nominate.

Board membership is always rewarding and often fun. Benefits include enhanced networking and career development. Some certifications, including CISSP, recognize board membership in SPIE with generous continuing education credits. The Board especially encourages female nominees.
