Secure Operations Technology (SEC-OT)

In this presentation, Andrew Ginter explores topics from his new book Secure Operations Technology. In the book, Andrew documents the perspective, methods and best practices of secure industrial sites. Secure sites ask different questions than do average sites, and get different answers.

A limited number of complementary copies of the book will be available at the talk.

About the Speaker

Andrew Ginter is the author of SCADA Security – What's broken and how to fix it, is a coauthor of the Industrial Internet Consortium Security Framework, and is releasing his new book Secure Operations Technology January 15, 2019.

Andrew spent a decade developing control system software products for Hewlett Packard, Agilent Technologies and other vendors. He spent half a decade developing IT/OT middleware products for Agilent Technologies and Verano. The middleware products connected a lot of control and manufacturing networks to IT networks, thereby contributing to the industrial cybersecurity problems that now plague many industries.

This last decade Andrew came to his senses and served as CTO and CSO at Industrial Defender and now VP Industrial Security at Waterfall Security Solutions, working to design, develop and deploy industrial security products and technologies. Andrew is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Michigan Technological University, teaching a graduate engineering course on cyber risk assessment for critical infrastructures. He holds a BSc. in Applied Mathematics and an MSc. in Computer Science, both from the University of Calgary.
